Most content on your static pages (non-game, stats, homepage) will be inserted using the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. This module will allow you to add & format text, buttons, images, tables & more.
Add a WYSIWYG Module to your page
When you first create a new static page there will already be a WYSIWYG module present as a default. You will also find WYSIWYG editors on other internal pages (games, events, contests). If you need to add a WYSIWYG editor just select the module from the Add Module drop down.
By default, modules may be closed. To expand & work on a module click on the + symbol next to the module.
You can move content modules up & down by clicking on the move up / move down buttons (make sure you save the page after you reorder a module).
Create Headings & Format Text
The text on your page will be globally updated to match the style (fonts / colors) of your brand (what you see in the CMS may not match the way text is rendered on the front-end). You can format text manually & define headings. By default, the title of your page is the only h1 tag (SEO best practice is to limit h1 headings so that Google knows what the most important keywords are). h2 will be the biggest sub-heading & all other text should be set to Paragraph. PLEASE NOTE: Use of ALL CAPS should be limited. First, select the text you want to edit & then select the proper classification from the menu.
Manually change the color of text by highlighting the text & selecting the color from the color picker.
Manually format text (bold, italic, text alignment, underline, strikethrough, indent, quote, bullet points) by highlighting text & selecting the tool (depending on the size of your screen, some tools may be truncated behind the three dots on the right side of the toolbar).
Create Links & Buttons
Create text links by highlighting the CTA (call to action) text & selecting the Link button.
Insert the URL & click the green check to insert the link. Target_blank will open the link in a new window (I would recommend using this setting for most external links). No Follow is an SEO setting that tells search engines to ignore the link. Your website is likely one of the most authoritative websites in your market, so when you add a link to an external website you give that website credibility (what SEO folks refer to as link juice). You can opt to not give the link credibility by selecting No Follow. It doesn't really impact your website at all.
If you prefer for a link to be displayed as a button you can select the button style from the menu after the text link is created. The Text Styles menu will be activated once you select a text link. In the CMS you will see blue & white buttons, but on the front-end of your website the Primary & Secondary Buttons will render utilizing your primary & secondary colors (which can be changed in global settings).
Insert & Format Tables
Insert a new table by selecting the Insert Table button & selecting the number of columns & rows you will need (you can add/remove columns & rows later).
IMPORTANT: Please format tables by using the menu that pops up while the table is selected, not the main toolbar (this will help ensure that the style of your website is carried through to the tables).
Add new rows, delete rows, and define header rows by selecting the Row Tool.
Add new columns, delete columns, and define header columns by selecting the Column Tool.
Edit table properties by selecting the table properties button
Here, you can change the background color, define the table border, and set alignment. Due to the responsive nature of your websites the dimension settings may not work, so avoid changing these settings.
Edit cell properties by selecting the cell properties button
Here, you can change the background color, define the border, and set alignment. Due to the responsive nature of your websites the dimension settings may not work, so avoid changing these settings.
Insert & Format Images
You can add an image to a static area by selecting the Insert Image button in the toolbar.
The Image Picker will allow you to select images that have already been added to your static pages or upload a new image.
Format images by selecting the image & utilizing the toolbar that pops up next to the image.
Insert Image: Allows you to select a new image
Left, Center, or Right Align: Align image to its container
Change Image Text Alternative: This allows you to set the alt text for the image. This is important for ADA compliance (text should describe image) and for SEO (Google initially used alt text to rank images in search engines because they describe the image). Please be diligent in using unique alt tags for every image. Simply putting your team's name or the name of the file may be technically compliant, but annoying to users using screen readers.
Toggle Caption On: Add a caption / Photo credit to your image
Center / Side Image: Show image in line with text or centered in its container
Link Image: Make the image clickable to a URL
Scale Image: Your website is responsive, so instead of setting strict height & width restrictions you can choose to display the image at 100%, 75%, 50%, or 25%.
Embed YouTube Videos
You may embed YouTube videos on static pages by selecting the insert media button in the toolbar. Simply paste the URL of your YouTube video (playlists / channels will not embed). You may also add videos by utilizing the embed module (not recommended for this purpose) or the Video Modules (as long as they are hosted via JW Player).
