Inserting ad slots & scheduling your local ad inventory is really simple. Ads are all responsive, meaning a desktop and mobile version will be required for all ad slots.
Ad Specs:
Leaderboards: 970x90, 728x90, 300x250, 320x50
Medium Rectangles: 300x250
By default, ad slots will run network inventory from the league. There are a few ads that are loaded on your sites that are required (FloHockey & Dash). You may edit those spots as needed, but remember that they must not be deleted.
How to create a new ad slot
You can create new ad slots wherever you need them. They can be created by adding an ad module to a page.
At launch, These ad modules will occupy an entire row. In the future, you will be able to place a medium rectangle in-line with other modules as needed.
Name Your Ad Slot
Keep in mind that this name is how you will identify the ad slot when scheduling inventory, so describe it well. If the ad slot is on the Partner near the header then name it appropriately.
Select the size of the ad slot
Google Ad Manager Tag
Most teams do not utilize Google Ad Manager. If you do please reach out to ian@patchboard.co & we can help you set this up (we need to add some things to the header of your page). Otherwise, just ignore these settings.
Once you create an ad module & save it the ad slot will appear in the admin panel at /admin > Ads > Ad Slots
How to Schedule Local Ad Inventory
Ads may be added to the admin panel at /admin > Ads > Create Ad
Name your ad, add a destination URL, and create an alt tag (describe the content for people using screen readers).
Enable / Disable ads, and schedule start / end dates (leave them blank to post immediately & run indefinitely).
Set the priority level. This will determine how frequently the ad appears compared to other ads scheduled for the same ad slots.
Choose the ad slot(s) you want these ads to appear in. You may choose multiple ad slots (keep in mind that if you ad is a leaderboard then you must only select leaderboard slots - you will get an error when trying to save).
Upload the images. Note that a mobile image is required for all ad slots. A desktop 970x90 or 728x90 must be accompanied by a 320x50 leaderboard or a 300x250 ad. (most of your traffic is mobile & users can not read the copy on a leaderboard that is shrunk to fit)
