The majority of users that download your app opt-in to push notifications, so this is a great way to nudge your users throughout the week (or even in the off-season).
A few words of caution:
- Do not send commercial messages: Push notifications are meant to be helpful reminders or alerts, not ads. Technically, this is the push notification policy from the Apple App Store: Should not be used for advertising, promotions, or direct marketing purposes or to send sensitive personal or confidential information.
- Be Concise: Keep your push notification short (about 50 characters). Anything beyond that likely won't be seen by most users.
- Don't send multiple notifications for the same thing (ie: don't send a notification reminding them to participate in burger week every day)
To schedule a push notification, navigate to your admin panel > Push Notifications.
Click + Add notification, Select the Send Date / Time, Write your message, and choose a notification action.
Notifications can open a URL (in a web browser), Open a restaurant detail page (select the restaurant), or open a Contest (select the contest).
After a notification is sent you can return to the Push Notifications tab to view how many users received the notification.
